Walmart appoints Krish Iyer as CEO of India operations

The global cash and carry major, Walmart, appoints Krish Iyer as the CEO of India operations. Iyer will take over Ramnik Narsey who moves to a global role of Senior Vice-President at Walmart International.

Iyer has been associated with Walmart from 2012 and has been a part of Southeast Asia and Europe on management roles for Hong-Kong based retailer, A.S. Watson. He has also served as the Managing Director of Ashok Piramal Group-owned Piramyd Retail.

It was only recently that Walmart broke its seven year old ties with Bharti Retail.

Former Nokia exec D Shivakumar joins Pepsico as Chairman & CEO

After Manu Jain quit Pepsico in June, its now that the food & beverage major has appointed a new Chairman & CEO for India region. D Shivakumar, former MD of Nokia India, fills in the vacant position.

Shivakumar has served as Nokia India’s Managing Director and then moved on to taking over as the VP for India, Middle East and Africa in 2011.

According to Indra Nooyi, as ETRetail reports, Shivkumar has the ability to take a billion-dollar business to the next level with innovation, execution and collaboration.

Raj Jain joins Bharti post Walmart break-up

Raj Jain who had quit Bharti-Walmart as Managing Director, has now joined back Bharti Group as advisor post the break-up.

Jain had departed the venture sometime back which also raised question on the JV lasting for long. He was taken over by Ramnik Narsey. Jain started his journey with Bharti-Walmart in 2006 and was announced the head in 2007. He had played a crucial role in setting up the cash and carry business in the country.

Delhi Duty Free Services gets new CEO

Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS) ropes in Duncan Lawley as CEO. Lawley has previously worked at Aer Rianta International’s joint venture in Cyprus, where he was overseeing retail operations was General Manager, overseeing retail operations at both Larnaka and Paphos Airports.

He also has worked with WHSmith and served as Managing Director of The Nuance Group’s, Scandinavian operations.

From DTH to lifestyle: Sanjay Behl joins Raymond as CEO

Raymond Limited has recently appointed Sanjay Behl as the CEO for the lifestyle business, one of the core business of the organisation. Behl who comes from Reliance ADA, the DTH business, he brings with him a wide experience across diverse industries including consumer goods and services.
“Rapid change in consumer aspirations coupled with growing discretionary spend on lifestyle goods poses a tremendous opportunity for the market leading and highly respectable brand portfolio at Raymond, both in ‘Ready-to-Stitch’ textile fabric and ‘Ready-to-Wear’ branded apparel segments,” says Behl.

He was also National Head for Sales and Distribution at Reliance Communications. Having started his career with Hindustan Unilever, he has also worked with Nokia at Asia-pacific and Global levels.

An engineer from IIT BHU (Varanasi) and an MBA from Sydenham Institute of Management, Mumbai, Behl is an avid enthusiast of technology and gadgets, a die-hard cricket aficionado and enjoys painting in his leisure time.
