NASSCOM, the organisation aimed at promoting Indian software industry, invites applications for the second batch of 10,000 startups initiative. Under this initiative, the technology startups achieve Funding, Acceleration, Mentoring and Enterprise connects (F.A.M.E).
Designed to promote and support technology startups, the initiative gives a 360 degree growth of the entrepreneurial ideas including market research, product development, talent acquisition, marketing strategies and others.

And to sustain this growth it is imperative to have more entrepreneurs in the country that will transform the landscape and propagate development. We are very pleased with the response that the 10,000 Startup program has received so far and are significantly enhancing the scope of the program in its second league. Adding value at various stages for technology startups in addition to the erstwhile proposition of funding and acceleration would be the primary focus of the program going forward. We are positive that this initiative will enable thousands of entrepreneur’s setup and grow their businesses and in the process further propel India’s economy.”
Under the ambit of 10,000 Start-ups, the program is additionally launching a one of a kind Startup-in-residence mentoring program where NASSCOM is collaborating with successful and entrepreneurial Tech companies in Consumer Internet and Software product space. This collaboration will enable incubation of early stage startups in their premises and support them through vertical experts specifically in the areas of Product Management, Technology, Marketing, Business Development and Human Resource. These renewed focus areas have immense potential and will continue to empower young entrepreneurs to create ventures of global scale from India.

The online bus ticketing site, TicketGoose, has raised $2.9 million (Rs 18 crores) to expand its business across the India territory.
Currently TicketGoose covers 700 bus operators across 10,000 routes that go to 4,500 destinations across southern India. The player has a strong presence across Tamil Nadu.
In 2012, the startup was doing 4,000 – 5,000 tickets a day which helped them earn $8.19 million in sales revenue in that year. And now, for 2013 the aim is to take that number to $20.5 million.
After promoting entrepreneurship across colleges, the Governement of Kerela now takes a step further as it launches the flagship Student Entrepreneurship Policy for the school students of the state.
The state also runs Startup Village which is India’s first telecom technology business incubator. The launch is the second stage of last year’s initiative of offering incentives to college students wanting to set up business start-ups.
Under this second phase, this policy will encourage innovation and innovative business ideas by youngsters especially school going students starting from standard 8th. These students will be encouraged from the tender age by giving them the opportunity to explore original thinking and learn computer programming languages in depth which will give them a great foundation to begin a startup from first year in college and have a successful company by their fourth year in college.
Additionally, the state will also come up with a new project that offers 100 teams of five college students each a Startup Tool Box, which will have high-end computers, smartphones and other technology items required to create a startup company.
Entrepreneur is the buzzword in India these days, where in people are choosing their passion over lavish jobs and creating some amazing businesses. NASSCOM has been upbeat about start-ups in India and taking this passion forward, as a part of its 10,000 Startups initiative has inaugurated the first co-working warehouse. Located in Bangalore, the warehouse has been setup in collaboration with Government of Karnataka.
The warehouse is aimed at providing a well-connected world class office space for tech startups and to be a center of innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship. NASSCOM has already received about 2000 Expression of Interests for the warehouse as it was part of the 10,000 Start-ups application process. Further, the selection would be finalised by a selection committee comprising of stakeholders from the government as well as the industry.
Highlighting the facets of the 10,000 Start-ups program and the warehouse, KK Natarajan , Chairman, NASSCOM said, “Within the first 150 days of its inception, the 10,000 startup program has received an overwhelming response and achieved numerous milestones in this short journey. The launch of the warehouse facility for startup companies in Karnataka is yet another milestone to create, sustain and boost the entrepreneurship culture within the state.”

iGrow had recently reported that VentureNursery started the third session of incubation for five startups, a thirteen week session. Along with, starting the third session, the incubators have opened up applications for the fourth session which is slated to begin on October 1, 2013.
The incubation centre is currently focused on six sectors including Media & Entertainment, Retail, e-Commerce, Consumer Technology, Education and CleanTech. The centre is a mix of Angels-in-Residence and Charter Angels, Advisors-in-Residence and Executives-in-Residence to provide complete support to the start-ups.
Startups are now becoming the apple of everybody’s eye, its the idea that needs to click. The business ideas are now being given new heights and as young as college students are now being promoted to share their ideas.
The recent inception plans have come from one of India’s prestigious educational centres including IIM Calcutta and even Delhi University. Both institutes have announced the plans of opening up incubation and acceleration centres that will promote ideas and thus transforming them into businesses.

Founded by Cory York and Indrajit Chowdhury in 2011, the company allows web designers to build themes and sell them to their own customers. The website offers templates which dedsigners can further design for both web and mobile platforms.
