Arvind Nair, CEO of one of India’s leading South Indian cuisine chain, Sagar Ratna, has put in his papers. Sagar Ratna was operating under its investors India Equity Partners and Nair has quit due to tussle between investors and promoters.
Nair will be holding the post only until end of December 2013. According to promoters the investors have not been living upto their claims of building Sagar Ratna as a brand. While the investors claim that the promoter, Jayram Banan, has voilated the contract by opening a hotel chain, Shri Ratnam, thus destroying Sagar Ratna’s brand value.
After making a successful entry in to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, Tata Starbucks, now opens its flagship outlet at Bengaluru. Celebrating the heritage of the city, this flagship store is located opposite Raheja Arcade, 7th Block, Koramangala in Bengaluru.
Spread across 3,000 sq ft, the store is inspired by the architectural style and tradition of the Bengaluru Bungalow, the store design embraces the lush landscape and greenery of the “Garden City”. The store celebrates the artisans of Southern India by integrating locally sourced material, architectural treasures and antiques mostly found in traditional bungalows. The store also pays tribute to the significance of its location in Karnataka – the birthplace of coffee in India.

The India based restaurant listing company, Zomato, has raised $37 million funds from Sequoia Capital as it expands its presence across Europe, South-East Asia, Australia and the America.
Zomato has been going places and now has launched websites in local dialects in areas including Jakarta (in Indonesian), Istanbul (in Turkish), and Sao Paolo (in Portuguese). Moreover, they have also opened operations in Durban, South Africa and Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland.
Zomato has till date raised $53.5 million funds.
The US donut brand Dunkin’ Donuts opens its third outlet outside Delhi-NCR and Punjab, this time at Dehradun. Managed by the master franchisee, Jubilan Foodworks, the latest restaurant opened at the recently opened Pacific Mall in the city.
The restaurant will offer more than donuts, the menu including sandwiches, burgers, a wide range of beverages and more.
Celebrating the launch, the outlet ran special offer, wherein it gave away a year long free donut supply coupons to people who dined in on the launch day.

If the reports are to be believed, Vikram Bakshi in his battle with McDonalds has picked up McAloo Tikki and other Indian items on the menu as his contention.
Bakshi’s Contention says that while McDonald’s levies royalty charges on the local joint ventures for selling items on the menu, the same is not paid by the US based parent company for India selling vegetarian burger in West Asian and Southeast Asian countries. He further argued that McAloo Tikki was researched and developed by the Indian JVs.
The India specific products, especially McAloo Tikki and McPuff, contribute to 60 per cent of the sales by Indian JVs.
McAloo Tikki was first introduced in 2001 and was developed by the Indian R&D team. The product’s popularity also took it overseas to Middle East and Singapore.
