The ecommerce marketplace, Amazon India, has launched its pilot project for Cash on Delivery service driven by India Post. The service is being tried along with reverse logistics.
COD will only be practiced on products that are being ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. The customer can see the tag of ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ on the product and “Eligible for Cash on Delivery” on the product details page. COD is currently being offered with no extra charges but going further a convenience fee of Rs 39 will be charged.
The marketplace has also launched ‘One Day Delivery’ service. The service is limited to selected pin codes and cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune. So customers in the selected pincodes can choose for the service at the time of check-out. To avail the service, you have to pay Rs 99.

India is slowly and gradually accepting luxury and increasing the space for luxury in India. According to a recent report by Cushman & Wakefield, luxury in India will acquire 1.44 per cent of the total retail market by 2015 as against one per cent currently, while the total retail malls stock is set to increase by 27 per cent by 2015.
Highlighting the changing luxury retail scenario in India, the report suggests that total current operational mall space in the organised retail sector across the top seven cities of India is estimated at 66 million (approx.) sq. ft. of which luxury retail space is only 770,000 sq. ft.

Tata Starbucks Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages Limited has announced the opening of the first Starbucks in Pune.

Indian Angel Network (IAN), the network of angel investors spread across key cities of the country including Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, are now eyeing the cities of Eastern India as they plan to set up base in Kolkata.
The move will accelerate the investments by IAN in states including West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa along with North Eastern states. Along with this, the network has also tied up with technology service arm of Usha Martin Group, Usha Martin Technologies.
According to IAN, they have been approached by a number of entrepreneurs from the Eastern region which encouraged them to leverage this region.

Di Bella, the Australia coffee brewers, have announced its plans to open two stores, one each at Pune and Dehradun. The coffee chain which started its operations in February 2012 with its first store at Mumbai now plans to make this expansion pan-India.
These stores will come up in Q3’13 and will further add stores in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Going further more stores will come up in Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh in the next two or three years.
