Bipasha Basu goes entrepreneur route; launches The Trunk Label with The Label Corp.

One of India’s renowned actress, Bipasha Basu, has launched her online selling portal. The portal, The Trunk Label, will be launching officially on 4th December under The Label Corp., the celebrity ecommerce company. But you can already visit the website and sign up for the future communications.

This is The Label Corp.’s third venture after they launches Sussane Roshan’s home decor portal and Malaika Arora Khan‘s fashion products portal. Bipasha’s ecommerce venture will be selling fashion accessories specially recommended and styled by the actress herself.

Bipasha will also be a stakeholder in the venture.

Shopping & selling with Juvalia & You just a tap away

The jewellery and accessories e-retailer, Juvalia & You, now comes to your mobile devices as it launches shopping app.

The app that allows direct selling and buying, is available in its beta version and can be installed on Android v2.2 and iPhone. It is primarily intended to be a fully functional version of the website to enable the stylists (direct sellers) of Juvalia & You to be empowered while on the go. It enables them to view catalogues, place orders, process online payments, further facilitating their ability to do robust business.

The app has an average user review rating of 4.6/5 and has already witnessed 250 downloads since its launch.

Flipkart launches iOS app

After launching a successful app two months ago for Android (Google Play), Flipkart launches iOS (Apple) app. Looking at the growing user base of Apple/iPhone users, this app will surely prove helpful for consumers.

Flipkart, which has been in news for raising a huge sum of money in past few months, has been working towards creating a stronger reach to Indian consumers through the marketplace model.

The app will allow users to place and track orders, along with sharing product display listing with friends and also access Flipkart browsing history offline.

mebelKart launches e-store; vouches on growing infrastructure industry

With the expanding infrastructure market, mebelKart, a new venture has emerged in the home and decor e-commerce space. Started by industry professionals from IITs and BITS, have joined hands and are currently operational in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Delhi.

Flipkart flips in $160 million funds

The e-commerce player, whose future looked bleak, a few months back, gives it back by raising another huge amount of funding. This time Flipkart, one of India‘s largest marketplace, has raised $160 million from  from private equity investors. The investors include Dragoneer Investment Group, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Sofina , Vulcan Capital and Tiger Global. (The investment is surely more than what was expected, like we reported.)

This takes the total amount raised by Flipkart, this year, to $360 million. The amount is has been raised to drive, build and strengthen technology and accelerate its supply chain.

 

eBay opens 2nd development centre; to hire 700 employees

One of the first few entrants in the Indian e-commerce arena, eBay, opens its second development centre at Bangalore and 16th globally. Spread across 1,50,000 sq ft, the development centre is expected to hire 700 employees over the time span of three years.

The development centre is looked at tapping the pool of software engineers in the country, which will be a critical driver for the company in long run.

The centre will employee people under eBay as well as PayPal, a fully-owned subsidary of the e-comm player. The first centre is in Chennai, spread across 2,50,000 sq ft with 2,000 employees working.

Bonita goes e-way in retail

The home utility brand which is creating waves in modern homes where space and convenience are the key, Bonita, now plans to reach its targeted audience through e-retail. Leveraging the platform, the name from the house of Casa Brands has entered into deals with online selling portals including Snapdeal, Indiatimes,  Mynesthome, Purehomedecor, Goodlife, Groupon, Tradus and PepperFry. It is also in talks with several other such platforms for similar deals that will enable it sell its products online.

Moreover, the brand also sells through its exclusive online store www.bonitaindia.com.

The DIY ecommerce platform from the house of BigFoot Retail Solutions, KartRocket, has raised seed fund from Gaurav Kachru’s 5ideas Startup Superfuel, 500Startups and angel Jatin Aneja, reports iamwire.

Funds will be used to scale up the sales, service and technology of the platform dedicated to SMEs and retailers. The companies can utilise this platform to set up their  own online sales platform through wide range of storefront designs, integrate payments including a COD option. They can also try a shipping platform ShipRocket integrated with Indian and international logistics providers with a single shipping dashboard. It can also help sellers in shipping and managing orders across online marketplaces and offers mobile ready solution. There are over 100 apps on the platform.
