Spread across 3,000 sq ft, the store is inspired by the architectural style and tradition of the Bengaluru Bungalow, the store design embraces the lush landscape and greenery of the “Garden City”. The store celebrates the artisans of Southern India by integrating locally sourced material, architectural treasures and antiques mostly found in traditional bungalows. The store also pays tribute to the significance of its location in Karnataka – the birthplace of coffee in India.
What’s more: Two more Starbucks will open soon in the city, each at Phoenix Market City and Orion Mall at Brigade Gateway, respectively.
Tata Starbucks Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages Limited has announced the opening of the first Starbucks in Pune.
Located off North Main Road at Koregaon Park, the store depicts the rich copper heritage of the city along with offering the best of coffee to its customers. The customers will have to wait until Sunday, 8 September 2013 to taste the Starbucks in their city.
The two storied store has been designed to reflect the rich historical architecture of the city and the interiors of the store embrace and celebrate the local culture with the use of railings, displayed antiques and copper. The elevations in the exterior of the store are attractively designed to reflect the shadows of the Gum trees surrounding it, along with the traditional Indian swing which is popular throughout Pune.
The name that changed the way India perceived burgers, that infact actually brought in the burger culture to the country, McDonald’s, now plans to stir the market with a new concept. The fast food major now aims at launching global coffee-house-styled F&B chain – McCafe – in India.
The project roll out which will take another six months will help McDonald’s gain better margins and will be implemented by both master franchisees in the country.
The new concept stores, aimed at youth, will offer a selection of coffees, desserts and smoothies, among others.

Tata Starbucks Limited has announced the appointment of Manmeet Vohra as its new Director – Marketing and Category. In her new role, Manmeet will lead all marketing and category aspects for the company in India. Prior to this, she was the Marketing Director at TAG Heuer and brings with her eleven years of extensive marketing experience in the luxury industry.

Ambience Mall, Gurgaon, known to be the premium luxury mall, has now welcomed the premium coffee brand, Starbucks. So next time you tired of walking in that 1 km long mall, you know where to stop for a cup of coffee.
Starbucks which already has seven stores across Delhi/NCR now adds another one spread across a vast space of 2207 sq ft inside and a 500 sq ft outside. Placed at the ground floor of the mall, the contemporary store design and locally sourced elements promise to provide customers an elevated coffeehouse experience. The design elements including large format murals that flank the banquette seating at the wood wall and the pictures across the store that showcase the coffee growing story reflect Starbucks coffee heritage and celebrate the rich Indian culture.
Di Bella, the Australia coffee brewers, have announced its plans to open two stores, one each at Pune and Dehradun. The coffee chain which started its operations in February 2012 with its first store at Mumbai now plans to make this expansion pan-India.
These stores will come up in Q3’13 and will further add stores in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Going further more stores will come up in Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh in the next two or three years.
CCD makes coffee a serious business as it launches a specialised format of cafe for die-heart coffee lovers. The Coffee Day Square as the new format is known has been opened at Block C of Connaught Place. The store has also launched a special menu which will offer seven different kinds of single origin coffee; four international and three Indian. Moreover, special food items are also added to make the coffee experience even more indulging.
TATA Coffee Limited, one of India’s largest integrated coffee producer recently inaugrated a premium coffee extraction plant at its Instant Coffee manufacturing facility in Theni, Tamil Nadu. The new extraction plant will help Tata Coffee position its Freeze dried coffee product at premium levels and increase its overall capacity by 30 per cent.
The state-of-art technology installed will enable the plant to produce and export premium coffee to consumers across the globe.
A completely export oriented unit, the facility has an installed capacity of 4000 tons per annum. The plant produces and exports spray dried, agglomerated and freeze dried instant coffee. The new extraction plant will add 2000 tonnes to the existing capacity.
Speaking on the occasion, Hameed Huq, Managing Director, Tata Coffee said, “Our expertise in the bean to brew value chain, efficient processes and focus on sustainability have helped us maintain a strong leadership position in the coffee business. The expansion of our Theni instant coffee facility illustrates our strong commitment to providing world-class premium coffees to our customers worldwide.
The Theni plant has won many achievements and recognitions including the top exporter of soluble coffee from India to Russia and CIS countries.
Starbucks has become popular for reasons beyond coffee. With its first stint with Mumbaikars, the store was well received for its amazing decor and a complete Indianised look. Moving to Delhi, the store design continued to make Indians feel at home with a handicraft inspired store. Along with different design stores, keeping in mind the location it is opening, Starbucks has also been strategic with the locations it plans to opens stores.
