The ecommerce marketplace, Amazon India, has launched its pilot project for Cash on Delivery service driven by India Post. The service is being tried along with reverse logistics.
COD will only be practiced on products that are being ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’. The customer can see the tag of ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ on the product and “Eligible for Cash on Delivery” on the product details page. COD is currently being offered with no extra charges but going further a convenience fee of Rs 39 will be charged.
The marketplace has also launched ‘One Day Delivery’ service. The service is limited to selected pin codes and cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune. So customers in the selected pincodes can choose for the service at the time of check-out. To avail the service, you have to pay Rs 99.
After making a successful entry in to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, Tata Starbucks, now opens its flagship outlet at Bengaluru. Celebrating the heritage of the city, this flagship store is located opposite Raheja Arcade, 7th Block, Koramangala in Bengaluru.
Spread across 3,000 sq ft, the store is inspired by the architectural style and tradition of the Bengaluru Bungalow, the store design embraces the lush landscape and greenery of the “Garden City”. The store celebrates the artisans of Southern India by integrating locally sourced material, architectural treasures and antiques mostly found in traditional bungalows. One of the leading tile brand of India, Asian Granito, plans to ramp up its retail business by opening 100 new exclusive AGL Tiles World stores. Currently the brand has 44 stores and the number will reach 100 by end of 2014.
The existing 44 stores have been opened since fiscal 2012-13 till now in cities including New Delhi, Kanpur, Jaipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Patna, Mumbai, Nasik, etc. New stores will be coming up in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kochi and Patna.

JustEat.in, the Bangalore based food odering and table reservation venture, has raised third round funding. Though the company puts the amount as disclosed, but ensures it being the largest so far for them.
The funding led by JustEat Holdings, Forum Synergies and Axon Partners Group, will allow the venture to expand the team size, build a stronger network, accelerate growth and expand further in metros.
With the money raised, Forum Synergies and Axon Partners Group have bought a minority stake in the company, while the majority remain with UK-based Just Eat Holdings Ltd.
JustEat.in currently operates in Bangalore, Delhi (National Capital Region) and Mumbai, signed with 2,500 restaurants and 3 lakh registered users.

The obvious price war has come in to action between brick and mortar retailers and e-retailers, which otherwise has been discussed but never complained of.
It’s no new that we all look for best deals online for a product which we might have liked over the shelf before we actually buy it. This consumer behaviour has affected the sales of many brick and mortar retailers across the country.
Not taking anymore, these retailers, mostly from Bangalore, have collectively written to CCI (Competition Commission of India) complaining against e-retailers including Flipkart and Snapdeal which run a marketplace, thus offering some best price. They have complained of online counterparts selling goods below cost and skirting Indian laws on foreign direct investment in retail. The letter has also questioned the legality of operations of some foriegn funded online retailers.
There are more than 1000 retailers who are now fighting their right to survive and grow.
India is slowly and gradually accepting luxury and increasing the space for luxury in India. According to a recent report by Cushman & Wakefield, luxury in India will acquire 1.44 per cent of the total retail market by 2015 as against one per cent currently, while the total retail malls stock is set to increase by 27 per cent by 2015.
Highlighting the changing luxury retail scenario in India, the report suggests that total current operational mall space in the organised retail sector across the top seven cities of India is estimated at 66 million (approx.) sq. ft. of which luxury retail space is only 770,000 sq. ft.
Of the seven cities, Delhi/NCR leads the space acquisition at 38 per cent, followed by 21 per cent in Mumbai and 17 per cent in Bengaluru.Due to a strong mall culture and fashion hubs in the country, NCR and Mumbai lead the show while a great level of disposable incomes and a leading IT hub Bengaluru has become the third best destination. Spice Group, an emerging player in the mobile and IT sector, has announced the opening of 50 AndroidLand stores across India in next 18 months. Spice Group manufactures mobile phones (Android OS) and also runs a chain of 650 multi brand mobile retail outlets, Spice Hotspot.
The stores will be opened in collaboration with Google Inc, owner of the Android OS.
Additionally, Spice Group will also set up 50 AndroidLand Mini stores within existing Spice Hotspot stores.
India’s is the second nation, after Indonesia, globally to open AndroidLand Mini shop-in-shop stores. These stores will feature Android based phones available across brands including Samsung, Sony, HTC, Lenovo, Xolo, Micromax and Karbonn, along with Spice.
