IRCTC Shopping adds books and luggage category

IRCTC Shopping and SOTPL (which runs Yebhi.com) has announced the launch of two new categories to the shopping portal: luggage and books. The expansion has come after three months of the launch of the shopping portal and have been added based on customer feedback and demand.

Interestingly, these two categories are one of the key ingredients while one is traveling and gels well with the IRCTC core business, railway ticket bookings.

Books:
The website offers over 20,000 books from various categories ranging from fiction, sci-fi, non-fiction, mystery, literature, bestsellers, etc to name a few.

Luggage:

The MobileStore goes online at BuildaBazaar

One of India’s leading multi-brand telecom retail stores, The MobileStore, has launched it e-store powered by Infibeam. The online store will be catering to the Indian consumers by offering a wide variety of mobile phones with special offers from all the key brands available across the globe. Sanitaryware brand Caroma enters India; opens store at MG Road

The Australian designer sanitaryware brand, Caroma, has announced its entry into the Indian market. The announcement was made when the brand opened its flagship store at MG Road, New Delhi.

The flagship store is a 400 sq mts experience centre that would offer people a first-hand experience of the innovation marvels created by the company over the years.

The brand aims to bring to the country its remarkable innovations in creating ultra modern and water efficient toilets that lead the way to the future.

TicketGoose raises $2.9 million to expand operations in India

The online bus ticketing site, TicketGoose, has raised $2.9 million (Rs 18 crores) to expand its business across the India territory.

Currently TicketGoose covers 700 bus operators across 10,000 routes that go to 4,500 destinations across southern India. The player has a strong presence across Tamil Nadu.

In 2012, the startup was doing 4,000 – 5,000 tickets a day which helped them earn $8.19 million in sales revenue in that year. And now, for 2013 the aim is to take that number to $20.5 million.

Dunkin’ Donuts opens 19th outlet at Dehradun

The US donut brand Dunkin’ Donuts opens its third outlet outside Delhi-NCR and Punjab, this time at Dehradun. Managed by the master franchisee, Jubilan Foodworks, the latest restaurant opened at the recently opened Pacific Mall in the city.

The restaurant will offer more than donuts, the menu including sandwiches, burgers, a wide range of beverages and more.

Celebrating the launch, the outlet ran special offer, wherein it gave away a year long free donut supply coupons to people who dined in on the launch day.

Dunkin’ has 18 restaurants across Delhi NCR, Chandigarh and Punjab.

Mahindra & Mahindra after automobiles to now sell fruits

From a $16.2 billion auto and aerospace group Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to taste new waters by retailing fruits and more precisely, branded fruits. Now that’s something interesting!

M&M will be launching a fruit brand Sabaro early November this year and will be retailing through chains including Godrej’s Nature Basket, Heritage Foods and Reliance Fresh (still in talks). The first product to enter this will be apples which will be sourced from Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, graded and sorted in 15 outlets in Hyderabad early next month. This will be followed by grapes, bananas and mangoes. Some of the products will also be imported.

For the new category, M&M is working with nearly 1,000 farmers in Sangli and Latur for grapes, 50 farmers in Kinnaur, Himachal for apples, 100 farmers in Gujarat, near Surat and Bahraich in Lucknow and Akluj in Maharashtra for bananas, reports Economic Times.

The products will be reaching out pan-India through major cities and mini metros in a span of one year.  M&M will target nearly 200 organised retail stores and aim that turnover will increase from Rs 100 crore to Rs 300 crore in the next three years. What’s more, soon the products could be bought online through various retailers’ online stores.

Alongside, M&M will also set up sustainable business model that includes the entire agri value chain.

By paying special attention to the need of new age customers, we have enhanced our offerings immensely.”

$14 million funding pours in for HomeShop18

The multi-channel retail company, HomeShop18 has raised $14 million in a follow-on funding round from G S Home Shopping, funds managed by OCP Asia and Network18.

Owned by Network 18, the company statement says, GS will invest $11 Million; OCP Asia
& Network18 will invest the remaining amount. The transaction values HomeShop18 at $360 Million.
Network18 will remain the majority shareholder (51 per cent) in HomeShop18. SAIF Partners, GS Home Shopping and OCP Asia are the other existing investors at Hom

 Our very first story of Art-tickles is about an idea which emerged with a sheer love of painting and art, Crazy Palette. Rishma Lath, who with a passion of art, moved towards a comfortable 9-6 job as an animator in her early years. But soon she realised that her passion and her creativity is not being justified by her desk job, and monotony made it even worse. Hence, she called it quits.
