In all these years of IPL being the rage among cricket lovers, Chennai Super Kings has been one of the most loved teams. One for the play and two for M S Dhoni who reigns the hearts of many Indians. Now the team plans to rule the hearts of their fans throughout the year as the plans are to launch resort-style health club in their home-city Chennai and enter sportswear retail.
The 30,000 sq ft health club will be a one stop leisure destination and will offer facilities including gym, cafe, restaurant, and a rehabilitation centre for players. The sources suggest that the club will open by end of 2014.
The IPL team expects that nearly 60 per cent of its revenues will come from outside IPL, while currently it only gets 8 per cent from merchandise and while 48 per cent are driven on sponsorship. Talking about retail, the CSK franchisee sells nearly 73 variety of merchandise through 600 point of sales.
