Sony aims volumes from smaller towns

The electronic major, Sony India, now plans to tap smaller towns with a new range of Bravia TV with a starting price Rs 15,000. With a potential of volumes from tier II and tier III cities, the company will still focus on metros where sales of high-end products will push revenue margins.

The announcement came at a launch of  two new products in its high-end 4k technology series. The two TVs are priced at Rs 3.04 lakh and Rs 4.04 lakh.

With its strong focus, the brand targets 20 per cent increase in revenue this fiscal.

Currently Bravia contributes nearly 35 per cent to Sony India’s sales.

Sony India had recently up its marketing budget by 66 per cent to Rs 250 crore in 2013-14 from Rs 150 crore a year ago.
